POEM INDEX
Franz Joseph

I.
spring again
he will be
the one whose eyes
I knew as yours
his mouth the same
upon my breast,
not as you,
but always you,
now never you again

II.
this body took a hostage
captured deep the part
of what we hoped
but didn't know
an ocean and a word
divide us
and one heartbeat
flutters dark

III.
secret endings, midnight losses
how will I say
the summer light
and sun and son
could hold the heat no more?

your face was lost
to clouds
